A pedal-free first bike
The Air Ride is a two-wheel balance bike for children to push along without pedals. Radio Flyer specifies 12-inch rubber air tires, an adjustable seat, a frame footrest and a bell. The seat adjusts from 12.75 to 16.38 inches; compare that range with your child’s seated reach rather than using age alone.
Account for tire upkeep
Air tires need inflation checks. The original #808 manual says tires may have lost air before arrival and recommends a hand pump to avoid overinflation. Check pressure before riding and do not exceed the 50 lb (22.7 kg) rider limit.
Follow the riding limits
The manual calls for adult assembly and continuous adult supervision. It excludes riding near motor vehicles, streets, pools, hills, steps or sloped driveways; it also excludes wet weather, rough terrain, stunts and night riding. Choose this bike for a dry, smooth riding area and check that the child can handle it. The Radio Flyer product page identifies the Air Ride as model 808Z and gives ages 18 months to 5 years. The manual excludes children over 5; check fit within the permitted age range.
