Giro Scamp II

Pros / Cons

Pros

  • XS begins at 17.7 in (45 cm), while the overlapping S size extends to 21.7 in (55 cm) for a longer sizing choice.
  • The Roc Loc Jr dial and 13 deep vents are documented on the exact Scamp II page.

Cons

  • XS and S overlap, so measure and compare the real on-head fit rather than choosing by age.
  • Its fit system only fine-tunes a correctly sized shell; it cannot make a poor shell shape stable.

Choose Giro Scamp II when a young rider needs a smaller shell than many youth helmets offer. Giro sizes XS for 17.7-20.1 in (45-51 cm) and S for 19.3-21.7 in (49-55 cm), with a small overlap; the child’s head shape and an on-head stability check should settle that choice. Both sizes use a Roc Loc Jr dial, 13 deep vents and an EPS/polycarbonate in-mold construction. The captured teal-green helmet has a conventional vented bicycle profile. This is the non-MIPS Scamp II, separate from Giro’s Scamp MIPS II. Measure before buying, fit the helmet level above the eyebrows, and check strap routing and vision. Giro lists CE EN 1078; verify the delivered helmet’s label and fit before riding.
