Smoby First Bike is a simple pedal-free option for early practice: it weighs 2.5 kg, has a 32.5–37.5 cm saddle and limits steering to 30 degrees. There is no hand brake, so a child must be able to stop by putting both feet down; practise this on level, open ground away from traffic, slopes and steps. Check the saddle against the child’s inseam rather than relying on the maker’s two-to-five-year age range. Follow the manual’s assembly drawings, keep at least 55 mm of seat post inside the frame, and use it for one rider only within the stated 50 kg limit.
