Hamax Caress suits everyday rides when an adjustable backrest, 20° recline and a sprung rack adapter matter more than a basic fixed seat. Your child must be able to sit unaided for the whole ride, from around nine months; recline is not a workaround for an earlier stage.

With the newer two-bolt adapter, the rack must be child-seat compatible, 120–160 mm wide, with 10–20 mm tubes and at least 27 kg load capacity. Child limits are 22 kg and 110 cm. The older side-knob adapter instead has a 120–180 mm range and a 25 kg minimum rack rating; the seat and child’s combined load must still fit that rack’s capacity. The old manual also excludes bikes with shock absorbers; do not interchange the adapters. Leave clearance around an e-bike battery and secure the additional strap to the frame or seatpost.
