The practical parent value is that a brand helmet with an added protection bundle brings the bike, scooter, or skatepark transition into one decision. The tradeoff is that pads and helmet can have different fit problems. Before the first ride, do more than order the helmet: measure head circumference, set the front edge level just above the eyebrows, align the Y straps below the ears, and check that the shell does not slide during a shoulder check or head shake. Check the uvex shell, strap triangle, and each pad separately.
