KED Embrace Jr

Pros / Cons

Pros

  • At 250 g with nine vents, the Embrace Jr is a credible warm-weather MTB option rather than a bulky skate shell.
  • The fixed visor, insect mesh and 360° dial-adjusted head ring address trail glare, bugs and fine fit in one helmet.

Cons

  • The current official size is 52-56 cm only, so children near either boundary need an actual fit test rather than room-to-grow sizing.
  • The removable rear LED is described as optional; confirm whether it is included, and never treat it as a substitute for required bicycle lights.

KED Embrace Jr earns its place on a junior MTB shortlist through a specific combination: a 250 g in-mould shell, nine vents, insect mesh and a fixed visor. It is the better match for a child with a measured 52-56 cm head who rides warm forest paths or sunny trails and wants more airflow and face-level cover than a plain skate helmet.

Fit decides the purchase. Use the dial and 360° head ring to keep the shell level over the forehead, then check that the Y-straps meet below the ears and the helmet stays put during a head shake. The rear LED is optional, so confirm the package contents; even when fitted, it is only an extra visibility cue. Verify the CE and EN 1078 marking on the delivered helmet, remove it for play, and replace it after an impact.
