Hackney belongs on the shortlist when a helmet with a rear light is being compared as an extra visibility aid. The practical parent value is that parents can judge helmet light, shell shape, and everyday acceptance in one decision. The tradeoff is that the lamp does not replace proper bike lighting, and the helmet still has to be adjusted correctly. Before the first ride, do more than order the helmet: measure head circumference, set the front edge level just above the eyebrows, align the Y straps below the ears, and check that the shell does not slide during a shoulder check or head shake. Before regular rides, check the light mode, battery state, and level fit.
