Thule RideAlong 2 is the conventional rear child seat to shortlist when you want a supported shell, footrests, and a calmer passenger space than an open front perch. The frame-mount version uses Thule’s quick-release bracket, so it suits a family bike that has a compatible seat tube but no suitable rack. The useful child boundary is roughly the preschool seat range: up to 18 kg/40 lb and 110 cm/43.3 in, with a 3-point harness and adjustable footrests.

The deciding check is the frame, not just the child. Thule lists round frame tubes from 28-40 mm and oval tubes up to 40 x 55 mm, and rear suspension, unusual tube shapes, small frames, fenders, or heel clearance can still rule it out. Choose this for a stable rear setup with recline; choose a rack-specific seat or trailer if the frame bracket fit is uncertain.
