Mondo Unicorn kids bike helmet

Pros

  • The Unicorn shell gives a 52-56 cm fit lane for children motivated by playful graphics.

Cons

  • Do not let the unicorn design win over fit; reject it if the helmet rocks when the child looks down.

The Mondo Unicorn Kids Bicycle Helmet is model 28507, a skate-style multisport helmet listed for a 52–56 cm head circumference. The unicorn design may appeal to a child who likes character helmets, but the size needs to fit now. NHTSA’s general bicycle-helmet guidance recommends a level, stable fit, straps forming a V around the ears, and a snug chin strap. That guidance does not show that this model fits a particular child; try it on and use NHTSA’s two-finger fit checks. Do not buy a larger helmet for a child to grow into.
