MV Sports’ Bluey helmet combines a familiar character design with a rear adjustment dial, removable pads and ventilation. The design may make the daily reminder to wear a helmet easier, while the dial and pads let a parent fine-tune contact around the child’s head. They cannot compensate for a shell with the wrong shape: after adjustment, the helmet should sit level and stay steady when the child looks up, down and to either side. Check that the straps can be adjusted securely and the buckle closes without the shell tipping. If it rocks, presses uncomfortably or the straps will not settle, choose a different-fitting helmet even if Bluey is a favourite. Do not choose by age or appearance alone; the stable fit is what matters.
