Chillafish Charlie LUX

Pros / Cons
Pros
- 3 kg frame with a built-in carry handle makes stairs and the walk home manageable.
- 32-40 cm saddle range and pump-free foam wheels cover the toddler years with almost no upkeep.
Cons
- Foam wheels pass along kerbs and uneven paving more than air tyres would.
- Upper saddle height of 40 cm means tall preschoolers will outgrow it early.

The Charlie Lux is a pedal-free balance bike with 30.5 cm puncture-proof EVA tyres, a carry handle and a footrest. Chillafish gives a 32-40 cm seat-height range and a 49.5-53 cm handlebar range. The seat’s minimum height is a more useful fit check than a broad age range: measure your child’s inseam and confirm they can sit securely with both feet on the ground. At 3 kg, the bike is light to carry. Its fit window ends at a 40 cm saddle height, so check this before treating it as a longer-term choice. It has no pedals, so the child propels it with their feet and will eventually move on to a pedal bike.
