The Nomad XL Plus makes sense when taking your own folding car seat would simplify travel, but check the car’s anchors before relying on it. Unlike the smaller Nomad Plus, this XL model requires ISOFIX and Top Tether for its harness stage. A taxi with only a seat belt is not enough for that use.

Match the installation to the child’s stage

The seat is forward-facing only and starts at both 15 months and 76 cm. The internal harness covers 76-105 cm, up to 18 kg, with ISOFIX and Top Tether mandatory. Stop using the harness when either upper limit is reached. A child below 100 cm who exceeds the harness limit needs a different suitable seat, not early booster use.

Booster mode covers 100-150 cm, up to 36 kg. Store the harness as shown in the manual and secure the child with the vehicle’s three-point belt; ISOFIX is optional. The manual says to stow Top Tether in the backrest when using belt plus ISOFIX. Check belt fit and whether the child can remain correctly seated throughout the trip.

Practise before the first journey

The included bag helps with carrying the folded seat. Practise unfolding, locking and fitting it before departure, and check every destination vehicle rather than assuming a universal taxi fit. The MC8063 Nomad XL Plus manual governs the mode change. Keep it with the seat so you can check the conversion when needed. The manual specifies car use only; folding does not establish approval for use on an aircraft. If continued rear-facing travel is your priority, choose another model.
