Non-Fix booster for 125-150 cm; three-point vehicle belt only.

Chicco Quasar i-Size

Pros / Cons

Pros

  • At 1 kg, the non-Fix shell is easy to move between cars and its separate guide positions the diagonal section of the vehicle belt.
  • The exact manual confirms R129/04 approval for 125-150 cm and three-point-belt installation.

Cons

  • It has no backrest, side wings or sleep support; Dutch consumer guidance prefers a high-back booster and reserves backless boosters mainly for occasional or space-constrained use.
  • There are no ISOFIX connectors: use only an approved three-point vehicle belt, and secure or stow the empty booster so it cannot become a projectile.

Quasar i-Size is Chicco’s 1 kg non-Fix booster for 125-150 cm, not the similarly named Quasar Fix with ISOFIX connectors. Its useful niche is occasional travel, taxis or a crowded rear bench where a high-back seat will not fit. The separate guide helps place the diagonal belt, but the booster adds no backrest, side wings or sleep support; for routine use, Dutch consumer guidance favours a high-back booster.

Install it forward-facing only with an approved three-point vehicle belt—never a lap belt—and check that the lap section sits low across the pelvis rather than the abdomen. The child must remain upright with the shoulder belt away from the neck. Use an i-Size-compatible vehicle position or check Chicco’s compatibility list. When the booster is empty, leave it belted in or store it in the boot.
